Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James McGuire (ranked 3173 p4p, 356 weight class) and Bob Grill (ranked 1857 p4p, 230 weight class). McGuire's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Metallica - Enter Sandman . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grill manages to avoid it.
McGuire has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Grill finds it's way round the side to connect with McGuire's head.
McGuire just misses with a punch to the body.
McGuire takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

It looks like James McGuire has been cut.
Grill misses with a low kick as McGuire jumps back.
McGuire throws a shot to the body.
Grill lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
McGuire wants to clinch up but Grill keeps it at a distance.
Grill moves forwards but McGuire connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McGuire thuds a left hand into Grill's body.
McGuire moves out of range of the strikes.
Grill keeps the fight on the outside.
Grill swats away the attempt to clinch by McGuire.
A little jabbing left from Grill on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Grill moves out of range as McGuire strikes.
Grill fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McGuire.
McGuire has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGuire changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Grill circles away from the clinch attempt.

McGuire clinches.
Grill keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McGuire's efforts to push away.

McGuire breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Grill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

McGuire darts in and clinches Grill up against the cage.
Grill lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McGuire backwards.
McGuire is trying to push Grill away but Grill has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
McGuire wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Grill breaks the clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - Grill finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
McGuire chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Grill can pounce on him.
Grill throws a hook but McGuire avoids it easily.
McGuire wants to clinch but Grill slips to the side
and Grill makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Grill has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

McGuire tries to clinch but Grill moves away
and Grill counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
McGuire scores with a sloppy right hand. Grill should have avoided that one.
McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grill was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Grill misses with an uppercut
and McGuire counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Bob Grill has been cut.
Grill waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McGuire.
McGuire scores with a nice right hand.
Grill goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nice straight punches there by Grill. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Grill.

McGuire clinches up with Grill and pushes him back against the cage.
McGuire is trying to break the clinch but Grill is controlling him.
McGuire tries to land knees in the clinch but Grill avoids the damage to the body.
A head punch on the inside from Grill fails to land.
A hook to the body from Grill.
Grill has McGuire pressed against the cage, preventing McGuire from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Grill escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Grill connects with an inside leg kick.

McGuire rushes Grill and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McGuire escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grill circles away from the clinch attempt.
Grill throws out a loose jab but McGuire uses good head movement to avoid it.
McGuire is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
McGuire ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grill moves away.
McGuire tries to clinch there but Grill circles away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Grill.
McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grill was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire.

McGuire moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on McGuire's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McGuire can't break the clinch.

McGuire successfully pulls guard.
Grill postures up.
Grill is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuire wants to get back to his feet but Grill passes into half guard.
McGuire wants to control but Grill is keeping busy.
McGuire keeping hold of Grill's head, controlling as best he can.
Grill is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James McGuire will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

McGuire has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from McGuire there as he acknowledges the shot.
Grill scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
McGuire tries to clinch there but Grill circles away.
Grill throws out a counter right but McGuire avoids it with no problem.
McGuire wants to clinch up but Grill keeps it at a distance.
Grill lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Grill scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
McGuire throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McGuire fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grill manages to avoid it.
Grill appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire tries to clinch but Grill moves out of range.
McGuire takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
McGuire is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A swing and a miss from Grill.
It looked like McGuire wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
McGuire misses with a body shot.
Grill only half commits to the counter leg kick.
James McGuire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGuire wants to clinch.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Grill feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McGuires jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
McGuire takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A slow jab from Grill misses its intended target.
Grill with a nice cross.

McGuire lands a big head kick that sends Grill tumbling to the mat! McGuire takes a step backwards and waves Grill back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Grill is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGuire ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Grill out cold! The fight is over!
