Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Botester (ranked 4609 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zak Kanjo (ranked 4494 p4p, 440 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ethan Botester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zak Kanjo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Ben Hemmingworth and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kanjo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Botester's guard.
Kanjo throws a strike but Botester rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Botester is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kanjo looking for a sweep. Not yet Kanjo, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kanjo pulls Botester in to control the position.
Kanjo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Botester wants to control from the top but Kanjo keeps moving.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Botester is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kanjo is pulling down on Botester's head to control his posture.
Kanjo wants to sweep here but Botester controlling him for the moment.

Botester tries to free his leg and advance position but Kanjo is retaining full guard.

Botester has momentary wrist control but Kanjo slips an elbow through the middle.
Kanjo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kanjo cracks Botester with a solid left hand.
Kanjo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kanjo is looking to work some ground and pound but Botester has wrist control.
Kanjo works over Botester with some ground and pound from guard.

Botester wants to stand and escape but Kanjo is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kanjo gets tackled into the cage by Botester. Botester maintains the clinch.
Kanjo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Botester avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Ethan Botester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zak Kanjo.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Botester manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kanjo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Botester wants to stand up but Kanjo is controlling him.
Kanjo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kanjo distracts Botester with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kanjo stands up over Botester, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kanjo chips away with some ground and pound.
Botester has momentary wrist control but Kanjo slips an elbow through the middle.
Botester is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kanjo is controlling him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kanjo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Botester utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zak Kanjo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Botester pushes Kanjo up against the cage in a clinch.

Kanjo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Botester clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Kanjo has his opponent's back but Botester is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Kanjo.

Botester shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Botester was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kanjo gets back to half guard.
Kanjo is looking for a sweep. Botester is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Botester wants to control but Kanjo is keeping him busy.
Kanjo regains full guard. Nicely done.
Zak Kanjo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kanjo is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Botester has his hands clasped together but Kanjo extends and breaks Botester's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kanjo.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Zak Kanjo!
Zak Kanjo bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
Ethan Botester was interviewed post fight and said 'damn i lost'.
