PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between val garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sully Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Godsmack - Whiskey Hangover. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy throws a right and a left that both miss.
garcia dodges the punch combination from Murphy.
garcia lands a nice looking kick to the body. Murphy takes a step back to recover.

Murphy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. garcia manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murphy wants to pass the guard but garcia is defending well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
garcia looking to control but Murphy passes into half guard.
Murphy stops garcia from getting back to his feet.
Murphy works his way into side control.
garcia is breathing heavily.

Murphy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but garcia is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Murphy goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, garcia rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Murphy's guard! Nice work there by garcia!

garcia postures up in Murphy's guard and throws a big left but Murphy blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
garcia wants to get up but he can't break Murphy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that val garcia will probably get the nod.
