Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kauko Kaarna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kaarna doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kaarna blocks a head kick by Monson.

so Kaarna counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kaarna slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kaarna trying to control but Monson is working from the bottom.
Kaarna wants to pass the guard but Monson is keeping the position.

Kaarna postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Monson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kaarna doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kaarna manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kaarna fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Monson sprawls well initially but Kaarna persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Kaarna counters with a shoot takedown. Monson fights it but they end up in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kaarna throws an elbow but Monson slips to the side and avoids it well.

Kaarna looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Monson is not content to let Kaarna control the position.
Monson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kaarna wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kaarna lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Monson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Kaarna is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Monson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Kaarna wants to control the pace but Monson is squirming around nicely.

Kaarna wants to finish this one by submission but Monson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kaarna.

Kaarna is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Monson is surviving well by controlling Kaarna's body position as best he can.

Kaarna has hold of Monson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Monson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kauko Kaarna showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Kaarna decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kaarna has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kaarna goes for an armbar but Monson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Monson.
Monson is pushing down on Kaarna's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kaarna is fighting to maintain full guard but Monson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kaarna is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Monson is staying active.

Kaarna tries to lock up and control but Monson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kauko Kaarna just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Monson has closed the distance and engaged Kaarna in a clinch.

Kaarna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Peter Monson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kauko Kaarna.

Kaarna shoots in looking for a takedown. Monson tries to sprawl out of it but Kaarna keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Monson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kauko Kaarna is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kaarna is stalling here. Monson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kaarna seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Monson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kaarna has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Monson is working away from the top position though.
Peter Monson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kauko Kaarna comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kaarna winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
