Kahva is trying to get an arm triangle but McHeartley is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McHeartley takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kahva crunches a massive hammerfist down on McHeartley - he's out! Kahva Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!

Banner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Banner swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kahva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Banner, up you get!
A head kick by Banner misses #TD2#
and Kahva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Banner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kahva on the ground.
Kahva lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kahva trying to control the position from guard on top but Banner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Banner controls Kahva momentarily but Kahva frees himself. #SU2#
Kahva gets to his feet. Banner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kahva is looking for a kimura but Banner is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kahva to get the leverage.

Kahva working over Banner with some ground and pound. Banner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
My spies in Tycoon Gym inform me that Kahva has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Banner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kahva is working away from the top position though.

Kahva looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Banner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Oh Banner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kahva unloads with some huge strikes here! Banner is out! Kahva wins by brutal knockout!

Kahva shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Machado is trying to defend but Kahva finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Machado tries to get to full guard but Kahva has control of the leg.
Machado felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Machado wants to control but Kahva is keeping busy.
Kahva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machado on the ground.

Kahva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Machado is just riding it out for now. Kahva eventually gives up the hold.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kahva is nestled in close to Machado, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kahva lands a nice short elbow.

Machado moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kahva is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Machado has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kahva is looking to defend but Machado has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kahva! Machado pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kahva taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rigan Machado!
Rigan Machado decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
