That was a close round but I would say that Karol Biernat will probably get the nod.

Ank goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Biernat has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ank but great work by Biernat.
Ank is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Biernat is taking a breather. Ank says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ank is looking for a sweep. Biernat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ank is staying active underneath Biernat, who seems content to just control the action from this position. #T4#

Biernat is sitting in close to Ank's body. Ank has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Biernat is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Biernat is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ank.

Orjan Ank seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.

Ank stuffs the takedown.
Smith works the jab nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith lands a jab to the head.
Ank takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rodney Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodney Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Smith throws a right and a left that both miss.
And Ank tries to counter it with a takedown but Smith pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Smith wants to clinch up but Ank keeps it at a distance.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ank on the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.#T1#
Smith lands a nice shot that snaps Ank's head back.
Smith lands the left hand.
Ank takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
It looks like Smith has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Ank takes one on the chin but seems OK. #ROC#
Ank is rocked!
Ank takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ank is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Smith is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Smith cracks Ank with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Ank falls to his knees and Smith doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodney Smith!
Rodney Smith is the new lightweight champion!
