Wallace is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wallace feints a jab promting Gates to slip. Wallace then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gates slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gates crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Wallace - the referee stops the clock and Gates gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Wallace. Gates manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.#CL2#

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oh Gates is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wallace jerks Gates's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Gates drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Wallace goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Wallace because Gates was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Gates misses with a double jab.
Pittman looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pittman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gates swivels and escapes.

Gates dances in with a quick combination. Pittman is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Gates snaps Pittman's head back. Pittman stumbles backwards against the cage. Gates steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Pittman's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Pittman just didn't come prepared.

During a confident post fight interview, Matthew Gates thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.

It looks like Mitch Shields has been cut.
Shields could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gates lands a brutal uppercut that launches Shields off his feet! Shields tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Valencia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gates circles away.
Gates throws out a counter right but Valencia avoids it with no problem.
Matthew Gates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valencia dodges the punch combination from Gates.
Valencia wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Gates throws an overhand right that has Valencia reeling! Gates follows up with more punches and Valencia is out cold! This one is all over!
