The Sock wants to clinch up but Ploy keeps it at a distance.
Ploy is looking for a counter combo.
Ploy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nice defenses there by The Sock.
Ploy looks to score with a jab to the body but The Sock is just out of range.
Ploy slips a jab and a cross from The Sock.

The Sock looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The Sock shoots in looking for a takedown. Maciel tries to sprawl out of it but The Sock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maciel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The Sock blocks a jab.
The Sock uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maciel.
The Sock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Maciel has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Provenza's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
