Bean has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Thompson is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Bean is looking to clinch but Thompson is avoiding it. #TD2#
Bean shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bean showed some decent athleticism there. #ES#
Thompson kicks Bean off and gets back to his feet.

Pate is concentrating on defense, preventing Bean from advancing position.
Bean takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pate holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Pate pushes Bean off looking to stand but Bean dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
