We've been told by Smeg's head coaches at Komplete MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Smeg is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Poorly doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Smeg crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Smeg's bad books for that mishap!

Left hook, right uppercut from Smeg.
Smeg throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kalashnikov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smeg tries to avoid it but Kalashnikov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smeg to the ground. Smeg escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kalashnikov shoots in but Smeg avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Smeg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smeg throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kalashnikov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smeg looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kalashnikov dodges the punch combination from Smeg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alex Phillips.
