A lull in the action here as Tarfel stalls from top position.
Tarfel lands some shots froms side control.
Tarfel cracks Durez with a big right hand but Durez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The referee asks Tarfel politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tarfel prefers to stall for the moment though.
Tarfel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Durez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tarfel connects with a decent elbow.
Tarfel in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tarfel has hold of Durez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Durez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tarfel cranks the arm and Durez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Durez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Petey Tarfel was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Norris seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Omar Durez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Willie Norris.
