Williams throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McLendon was covering up waiting for the punch and Williams finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McLendon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McLendon looking for a sweep. Not yet McLendon , not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Williams might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

McLendon lands with a kick to the temple. Williams shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
McLendon lands a nice looking kick to the body. Williams takes a step back to recover.
McLendon tries to clinch but Williams moves out of range.

McLendon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Williams is working away from the top position though.

This has been an exciting period of action!
McLendon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Williams manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Williams feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
