Almeida feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Almeida showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Lane preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Almeida wants to control from the top but Lane keeps moving. #SUB2#

Marcus Almeida tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sousa is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Almeida has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Sousa is looking to defend but Almeida has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Sousa! Almeida pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Sousa taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Marcus Almeida!
