Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Barreto is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barreto connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple.

Barreto remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Carico throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones misses with a double jab
and Carico counters with a solid body kick.
Carico throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A little feinted left hand from Jones on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Duilio Carico seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carico throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Carico scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jones lands a head kick!
Carico cracks the inside of Jones's front leg.
Jones tries to clinch but Carico moves away
and Carico counters with an outside leg kick.
Carico circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Carico.
Carico feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

That kick from Carico tenderised Jones's leg. Jones is trying to keep his angry face on.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Whack! Carico lands a heavy head kick that drops Jones. The ref tackles Carico to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Jones was done.
