Rickford is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Giou defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Will Rickford go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Giou can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rickford is nestled in close to Giou, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That was a close round but I would say that Randy Rickford will probably get the nod.

Rickford postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Giou on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Giou doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Gracie ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gracie no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. #SUB#

Gracie has his foot on Rickford's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rickford works his way back into a safe position though.
Rickford must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#SUB#
Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Rickford has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends and breaks Rickford's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.

Cartwright gets in close and tags Rickford with a short punch that almost sends Rickford to the mat! Oh Rickford is in big trouble! He turns his back on Cartwright, trying to create some distance but Cartwright rushes him, striking wildly and Rickford goes down! The referee tackles Cartwright into the cage to end the fight! Cartwright is one violent man!

During a confident post fight interview, Caidan Cartwright thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
