Pierda throws a poor cross that misses
and Pierda takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. #CL2#
Goon instigates a clinch.
Pierda is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Goon is defending well.
Goon lands with a left to the head.
Goon prevents the takedown attempt.
Goon lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Goon is pressed up against the cage. Pierda has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Goon down to the mat. Goon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duxney Pierda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pierda gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fighters circling - Pierda throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Goon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pierda throws out the jab.
Goon defending well as Pierda loads up on a big left hand.
Pierda closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Goon counters with a nice uppercut.
Pierda really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pierda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Goon.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Goon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Pierda throws a big shot that misses.
Goon let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Pierda throws a hook but Goon blocks it.
Pierda getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Goon ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.#T1#

and Goon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pierda thinking.

and Goon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Goon connects with a single shot there.
Goon staying out of range there.
Pierda throws a shot from downtown. Goon moves away and avoids it.
Pierda walks into a jab.
Goon scores with a hook.
Goon throws a right and a left that Pierda avoids nicely.
Goon displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pierda throws out the jab.
Pierda throws out a loose jab but Goon uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pierda is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Goon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters circle momentarily. Pierda darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Pierda looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Goon looks to land a combination. Pierda sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Goon swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pierda.

enabling Goon to counter with a crisp jab.

Oh Pierda is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pierda looks up at the clock. Bad move! Goon lands a right hand from hell, dropping Pierda. Goon pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Goon cracks Kent with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kent moves out of range of the strikes.
Goon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kent throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Goon throws out a counter right but Kent avoids it with no problem.
Kent connects with a good right hand that stumbles Goon. Goon circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Goon's coach down at Gizmo's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Goon's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Kent on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Goon dodges the punch combination from Kent.
Kent thuds his right hand into Goon's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kent blocks a jab.
A little feinted left hand from Kent on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Goon takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Goon misses with a right hand
and Kent counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Goon misses with a two punch combination.
Kent throws a body punch but Goon moves out of range. #T1#
Goon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kent's head.
Kent throws a big shot that misses.
Goon wants to clinch up but Kent keeps it at a distance.
Kent jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Goon takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kent throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goon.
Goon is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kent with a body shot.
Goon tests Kent's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Goon has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kent slips under a jab from Goon.
Goon scores with a three punch combo!
Goon throws out a loose jab but Kent uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nice cross by Kent.
Kent throws a series of punches but Goon avoids them all with ease.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kent misses with an uppercut. Goon saw that one coming.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Goon! But no joy.#T2#

Kent is pawing at Goon, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Goon's nose. Goon is badly hurt! Kent pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Goon tries desperately to hold on but Kent is relentless in his assault! As Goon receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Kent away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clark Kent!
An out of breath Clark Kent thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.

Goon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gonza Shawnza is trying to defend but Goon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Goon not doing much here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
