Petitpas has taken the fight to the clinch.
Petitpas throws a punch but it's blocked by Howard.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Petitpas.
Howard lands a left hand that snaps the head of Petitpas backwards.
Howard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Petitpas digs a right hand into Howard's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Howard's gas tank.

Howard is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Petitpas to keep the fight standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petitpas struggles to land a body shot inside as Howard controls his hands.
Howard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Petitpas walks away with a smile on his face. Howard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Howard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Howard jumps guard but Petitpas stands there with Howard around his waist. Howard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Petitpas is pressed up against the cage. Howard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Petitpas down to the mat. Petitpas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters circle momentarily. Petitpas darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Howard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Petitpas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Howard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Petitpas as he jumps to the side.
Despite the aggression on Petitpas's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Petitpas moves out of range of the body kick from Howard.
Petitpas scores with the left hand. Howard knows he should have avoided that one.
Howard dives in for a single leg takedown but Petitpas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
