Howlett shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ranger napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ranger manages to get back to half guard.
Ranger is concentrating on defense, preventing Howlett from advancing position.
Howlett really is a fat lump.
Ranger makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ranger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howlett throwing strikes but missing.
Howlett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ranger is on top in guard.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Howlett looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Ranger! Submission of the night perhaps?

Howlett not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ranger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howlett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ranger looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Howlett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Ranger! Howlett is hurt baaadly! Ranger is firing away with more strikes - Howlett is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
