Appalusu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alcantara's guard.

Alcantara has his feet on Appalusu's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Appalusu throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alcantara tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Appalusu is in Alcantara's guard.

Appalusu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alcantara dives on top into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Appalusu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alcantara's guard.

Alcantara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Appalusu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Appalusu drops back looking for a leg! Alcantara is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alcantara manages to kick Appalusu off! Appalusu jumps back into Alcantara's guard.

Appalusu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Appalusu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alcantara manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Appalusu has Alcantara in his guard.

Alcantara is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Appalusu has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Alcantara is looking to defend but Appalusu has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Alcantara! Appalusu pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Alcantara taps out and this one is all over!

Appalusu shoots for a double leg takedown but Dillinger sprawls well. He's pushed Appalusu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

As Appalusu tries to get set, Dillinger tries to push him back and clinch up but Appalusu manages to avoid the attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Dillinger takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Appalusu darts in looking for a takedown but Dillinger gets double underhooks and turns Appalusu into the cage.
Dillinger wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Nate Dillinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alzonz Appalusu.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Appalusu stuffs the takedown attempt from Matteo. Matteo gets slowly back to his feet.
Appalusu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Appalusu throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Matteo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Appalusu is in Matteo's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Appalusu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Matteo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Matteo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Matteo!

Appalusu tries to buck Matteo off but Matteo is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matteo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Appalusu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Appalusu is working hard here to advance position.

Matteo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Matteo closes the distance and clinches up with Appalusu, looking for a takedown. Matteo pushes Appalusu against the cage but Appalusu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Appalusu shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Matteo is trying to defend but Appalusu finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Appalusu is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Appalusu in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Matteo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Appalusu!
