Rowan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rowan throws a big shot that misses.
Rowan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Li tries to counter with a takedown but Rowan is quick to defend against it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Rowan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Li takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rowan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rowan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pope throws a big shot that misses.
Pope lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Li has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pope to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Li is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pope pulls down on the head and he's put Li to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Maddox Pope!
Maddox Pope gave a mention to KO GEAR in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).

Chun Li was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
