The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bichette.
Volkov shoots in looking for a takedown but Bichette manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Volkov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Volkov misses with a left hand
and Bichette counters with a one-two to the body.
Volkov throws a combination that misses
and Bichette counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. #CUT2#It looks like Abraham Volkov has been cut.
Volkov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Volkov shoots for a double leg takedown but Bichette sprawls well. He's pushed Volkov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Volkov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bichette.

Bichette tries to bum rush Volkov with a series of wild strikes but Volkov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Volkov misses with a takedown attempt - Bichette sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abraham Volkov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bichette connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Volkov momentarily.

Bichette drops Volkov with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Volkov looks back up at him and smiles so Bichette waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Quarus moves in looking to clinch but Bichette pushes him off.
Quarus closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bichette circles away.
Bichette lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Quarus turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Bichette. No joy for Quarus on that attempt.
Bichette throws a series of punches but Quarus moves out of range.
Quarus shoots for a double leg takedown but Bichette sprawls well. He's pushed Quarus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Horrible takedown attempt by Quarus or perhaps it was just good defense by Bichette, which made it look bad.

Quarus is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bichette pulls him back up using the underhooks. #BC#
Quarus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Quarus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It seemed like Gustafsson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bichette takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Oscar Gustafsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
