Cruz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Klimenko napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cruz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Cruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Klimenko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cruz grinds an elbow into Klimenko's temple.
The referee asks Cruz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cruz prefers to stall for the moment though.
Klimenko prevents Cruz from moving into mount.
Cruz throws an elbow but Klimenko slips to the side and avoids it well.
Klimenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cruz creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Klimenko sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Klimenko dodges the ground and pound from Cruz.
Cruz lands a few punches from side control.
Cruz looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cruz decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Cruz fails with the takedown.
Klimenko was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.#T1#
Cruz is looking to clinch but Klimenko is avoiding it.
A little feinted left hand from Klimenko on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Nice takedown defense from Klimenko. No joy for Cruz on that attempt.

Cruz feints and as Klimenko raises his hands in defense, Cruz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.#ES#
Klimenko scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Klimenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
Klimenko is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Alexandr Klimenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Cruz.
Cruz moves to clinch but Klimenko breaks away
and Klimenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cruz wants to clinch.
Klimenko is looking to counter punch.#T2#

Cruz gets a double leg takedown into Klimenko's guard.

Cruz stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Klimenko has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Cruz manages to get his head free but now Klimenko has transitioned to an armbar! Cruz grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Klimenko! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.#CL2#
Klimenko tries to keep at a distance but VonRueden has taken the fight into the clinch.#TD2#
VonRueden gets control of Klimenko's arms and successfully pulls guard. VonRueden will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.#SUB2#
VonRueden has his foot on Klimenko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Klimenko works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB2#
Klimenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and VonRueden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Klimenko has managed to get both his arms back between VonRueden's legs - danger averted.#SUB2#
VonRueden is looking for a triangle but Klimenko pushes his legs off easily. #SUB2#
Klimenko content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because VonRueden has locked up a guillotine! VonRueden's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Klimenko is holding on here and VonRueden must be using up a lot of energy. Klimenko has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! VonRueden gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
