The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machete tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jabbert defends well and Machete ends up having to push Jabbert into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Blayn Jabbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jabbert stuffs the takedown.
Jabbert smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Jabbert throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Machete shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jabbert as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for La Machete. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machete tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Machete's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jabbert connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Machete scrambles back to his feet.
Jabbert tests Machete's chin there with a solid looking shot.#CUT2#It looks like La Machete has been cut.
Machete shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jabbert as he jumps to the side.
Jabbert scores with a hook.
Machete gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Machete looks up at the clock. Bad move! Jabbert lands a right hand from hell, dropping Machete. Jabbert pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Blayn Jabbert!

Stevenson manages to pull guard.
Stevenson wants to improve his position but instead Machete has moved into half guard.
Stevenson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Machete has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stevenson is not content to let Machete control the position.#SUB#

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machete is trying to control. Stevenson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
