West leaves Jefferson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jefferson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
West doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Jefferson connects with a looping right hand.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jefferson has been working on his balance at Gold Samurai's Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by West.

West tries to land a front kick but Jefferson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
West has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

West lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

West lands with a thumping leg kick.
West throws a body shot but no joy.
Jefferson is looking to counter punch.
West fails to land with a series of punches.

West throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jefferson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by West.

West getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
West ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
West fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
West throws a leg kick that is checked
and Vann cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
West's coach down at Doom\'s Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on West's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
West turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Vann shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
West bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Vann's head backwards.
West paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
West scores with a jab. Vann acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
West lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
West fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Vann checks it well.
Vann drops down looking for a counter takedown but West sprawls and moves away.

West scores with a crisp jab that stopped Vann in his tracks.

Vann tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but West swivels and escapes.
West goes for a double leg but Vann avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vann continues to drive forward.
West is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
West slaps away a takedown attempt from Vann, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Calvin Vann. That's going to take a lot out of him.

West is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Vann had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

As West looks to move away, Vann throws a big counter combo but West just gets out of the way.

Vann takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
West attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

West drops Vann with a straight right hand, right on the button! West follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

George West was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

West lands a jab.
Steele has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
West connects with a single shot there.
George West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steele tries to clinch but West moves out of range.
Steele tries to clinch up.
West connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

West slips a jab and a cross from Steele.
West misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Steele takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This has been an exciting period of action!
West throws a hook to the side of Steele's head but Steele sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Steele keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

West is still on wobbly legs! Can Steele finish him?
A jab lands there for West.
West throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steele sees it coming and avoids it easily.
West leaves his chin hanging out and Steele seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! West crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

West throws a punch but it's blocked by Bosnjak.
Bosnjak blocking some punches.
Bosnjak is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bosnjak.
A quick uppercut on the inside from West.
West makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, West creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Bosnjak blocks an elbow strike.
West's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bosnjak takes a shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West gets through Bosnjak's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
