Tsuyoi shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Tsuyoi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round but I would say that Byron Smith will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Well Tsuyoi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Devine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hoover defends well and Devine ends up having to push Hoover into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Devine shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hoover as he jumps to the side.
Devine connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Devine scores with a nice strike.
Hoover could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Devine steps in with a hook that catches Hoover right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Devine follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Hoover looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeff Devine!
