Gates breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gates shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patrick pinned against the cage. Patrick gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #CL2#
Gates clinches up with Patrick and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gates looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Patrick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gates lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Patrick quite badly. Patrick pulls Gates in close trying to recover. Gates postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Patrick on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Patrick doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gates.

No joy there for Gates, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gates gets tackled into the cage by Bryan. Bryan maintains the clinch.
Bryan tries to score a body lock takedown but Gates shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Gates gets underhooks to prevent Bryan's takedown attempt.
Bryan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wm Bryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
