Ladies and Gentlemen, it's Erik Steele once again coming to you with a preview of Extreme cage wars 20! Fred Coples v Hantuch Sinus - 265 Pounds Coples was never exactly large for a heavyweight, starting his EMMA career comfortably under 220 pounds, a recent binge on weight loss pills during a bout of depression since being fired by his manager has Coples down under 200 pounds - so unless Sinus is out to embarrass himself he needs to come out of this one with a vctory, Sinus has the better hands and a serviceable wrestling game and will no doubt look to keep this one on the feet against once promising wrestling convert Coples. Cole Bentley v Bobby Truth - 185 Pounds Truth wants to punch, Bently also wants to punch but he probably wants to get Truth to the mat before doing so as he has shown stout wrestling while Truth has displayed a distinct lack of counter-grappling skills in his career; with two men yet to taste victory in their MMA careers thus far it's certain that one of these men will want to make his mark and get some respect, he'll need a decisive win here in order to do so. Optimus Prime v Tim Washer - 265+ Pounds Prime is, if nothing else, a guy who can pull a submission out of his backside when he needs to - winning his MMA debut on the regional circuit with a triangle armbar with just one second left in the fight, his tendency to forgoe ground and pound seems somewhat unusual for a big wrestler but it certainly worked for Prime on that occasion. Washer is a uniquely well rounded Super Heavyweight, capable of fighting well both standing and on the ground with equal ability; unfortunately for him he is yet to win in EMMA and will need a big performance against Prime to get himself back on track. Auu Rite v Mequetrefe Nervoso - 205 Pounds Boxing vs Muay Thai folks, it's the match K-1 fanboys around the world have been dreaming about - Auu Rite is a Muay Thai convert who displayed exceptional punching power in his debut and a wide array of damaging strikes; Nervoso didn't have the best of debuts, however he was in the tough position of facing Freddy Lee Jr, while he came up short on that occasion he did display the capacity to score with powerful striking including a vicious knockdown inducing punch in the first round. One thing we know for sure; these guys are too hungry to quit, so if they want a win they'll have to score big - the sooner the better! Sub Ko v Ryan Marx - 155 Pounds Sub Ko could be described as EMMAs least consistent performer, having a tendency towards either winning with sub of the night performances or being subbed himself, coming off a loss to the always tough Hector Santos De Arroyo, Ko will no doubt be looking to get himself back in the winners circle. Marx on the other hand recently snapped a 2 fight losing streak with a Unanimous Decision victory at Extreme Prelims 14 - no doubt he will look to keep this one on the feet where he has the ability to frustrate Ko using his strong Muay Thai skills to try and counter the Boxing of Ko. Bukk Wild v Bolo Yeung - 265+ Pounds There's going to be a lot of beef in the EMMA cage here folks, someone had better make sure the crew reinforces the door and everything because we don't want any structural problems with the fence while these two 300+ pound behemoths are in the cage - Wild will no doubt look to keep this on the feet and strike while Yeung, who is the more recognised grappler of the two will presumably look to take this to the mat and work his submission skills. Robert Lashley v Nicholas Zona - 155 Pounds Two very similar well rounded fighters will be throwing down in this clash at 155 pounds, Lashley holds a small size advantage while Zona is a better tested and perhaps the better wrestler having shown strong ability to get the fight to the mat previously. Lashley has a disadvantage in that he is likely going to be unable to decide when this fight goes to the ground or stays standing, but his well regarded coaches should have him well prepared for either scenario. Han Denderson v Tillakaratne Dilshan - 155 Pounds Former EMMA champion Han Denderson meets powerhouse striker Dilshan in what is expected to be an all out slugfest, Dilshan is well known for his brutal head kick victories while Denderson is regarded mostly as a grappler with some heavy hands when he does elect to use his Boxing so while there is no doubt Denderson won't want to stay on the feet and risk eating a shin sandwich courtesy of Dilshan the question becomes: will he be able to? Theron Morrison v Hector Santos De Arroyo - 155 Pounds Title Fight Reigning EMMA 155 Pound champion Theron Morrison defends his belt against Santos De Arroyo in what is sure to be an exciting clash of styles - Morrison is an exceptional striker holding 8 of his 11 wins by way of KO, he also showed in his title win that his dirty boxing is nothing to be sneezed at - Santos De Arroyo will need to be cautious on the feet and look for opportunities to drag this fight to the mat where he can and will do his best work. Matt Holl v James Tony - 205 Pounds Former champion meets former champion in this exciting main event - Tony is regarded as a Boxer who has discovered surprising submission grappling aptitude while Holl is a lifelong wrestler and former NCAA Div 2 champion. What may be the largest factor in this fight is that Tony is coming off two losses while Holl rides a 3 fight win streak into town since losing the title; Holl no doubt feels close to another crack at the gold and needs to bring his skills to bear against Tony, while Tony is no doubt looking for that big rebound victory.
