Having run a few recent event on a Friday, Bloody Fist Fight League moves back to its usual Saturday slot for BFFL 39. To be held before 1000 screaming fans in The Underground Arena in London on 11th of Feb this one should be a cracker with lots of fights involving people with something to prove and aim for so lets get right into the main card action and pray this preview comes out better then last weeks!…………………………….............................................................................................................................. 170lbs… Josh Cunningham (4-4-0) vs. "Angry" Adam Groenberg (4-4-0)…… Starting at Welterweight this one see’s an excellent Boxer take on a dangerous ground and pound guy. Cunningham has Exceptional Boxing which makes him dangerous to stand toe to toe with which opponents have found to their cost so far but other then a Purple belt in BJJ he has little other skills to speak of. Groenberg however has a more varied skill set, his main weapon is his Wrestling which is Exceptional but he also backs it with a Purple belt in BJJ as well as Strong Muay Thai and Remarkable Boxing so he is by far the more rounded out fighter then Cunningham. Groenberg’s main attack is simple, take you down and pound you out which has been quite effective thus far and it could work well against an opponent here who has little Wrestling to counter it with but Cunningham does have excellent hands which is a danger for Groenberg as all it takes is one punch to end a fight. Both men were in the mix for a possible title shot but suffered losses in their last fights, now its all a case of who wants to get back in the mix the most. I know both do but I suspect the lack of Wrestling will hurt Cunningham and see him miss out but we shall see!…………………………….................................................................. 185lbs… Jima Jammy (4-1-0) vs. Ryan Lionheart (3-4-0)…… Moving to Middleweight next and this is a fight between two guys who are not the most skillful but find a way to win. Jammy especially has a knack of well being Jammy as they ay in my part of the world. Despite having no skill higher then Respectable he has only lost 1 fight so far and is a great advert for hiddens and sliders being very important. Lionheart himself is not that impressive to look at, Proficient is the best he can offer up as a stat and yet he scrapes out wins too so this one is looking like a game plan battle rather then a straight up beast fight. Jammy has shown in the past he can do anything be it on the outside, in the Clinch or on the ground he is comfy with it and that’s a good thing to be as it means he can vary his attack well. Lionheart so far has found the ground more comfy then standing, his ins have mostly come from pounding out his opponent after getting a takedown and he may well look to do so again given his superior BJJ and Wrestling but Jammy ha shown he can cope with that kind of fight. Something of a problem for Lionheart is his moral, its very low and there is not much time to improve it before the fight and this is a fight to win as the winner gets a contenders fight afterwards and a way into the title race so it’s a fight neither can afford to lose if they have ambitions. I think Jammy will take it to be honest then his real challenge begins……………………………................................................................................................... 185lbs… David "the bulldozer" Backstrom (10-8-1) vs. Fergus McRedd (16-5-0)…… Staying at Middleweight and this one should be interesting. Both men have been on great runs until recently when they have hit little bumps in the career road but they have a chance to stop that now and take a smoother path. Backstrom is a really good fighter who despite having Remarkable Muay Thai as his main weapon can also submit people using his Purple belt in BJJ as he has done three times. McRedd has fought some really tough guys during his career and some through some great fights with a win with his Remarkable Boxing carrying him to some solid (T)KO victories. Its his Boxing that he will want to use here too, its better then Backstrom’s but he has to be careful. If Backstrom ties him up with a Clinch or gets the better of stand up battles there is a big danger he can knock out McRedd who has suffered 5 (T)KO stoppages thus far showing his chin can be gotten to and hurt. Backstrom does have super low moral coming in though after two losses in a row and that will hurt him in the fight if its not addressed and with the winner getting in the mix in the division you’d think he would be doing all he could to come in with the best chance to win. McRedd is my pick for this fight simply due to the moral issue but you never can tell for sure!……………………………........................................................................................................ 265lbs… Clifton "Rumble" Barnes (15-10-0) vs. "All-American" Jaykke Wheaton (5-4-0)…… Going up to Heavyweight for the Co-Main Event fight of the night and I am predicting blood in this one! Barnes is notorious for not only busting people open but also getting sliced up too. Ten of his fights have so far ended via a Cuts stoppage either for or against him and even in the fights that didn‘t end with a doctor stoppage there was blood. Wheaton will like that, he is very good at Ground and Pound and will relish the chance to open up his opponent if he can and coming off the back of two solid wins he has momentum and confidence on his side. Barnes will probably be looking to keep it standing and look for a knock out, his opponent ha been stopped several times before that way and given Wheaton’s ability on the ground it would be foolish for Barnes to try and match him there. Along side the excitement of possible a blood bath this should see a finish too, only twice in thirty-four combined fights have these two gone to the judges which should mean this is a fast and furious battle to the finish which is always exciting and should make this a fitting lead in to the Main Event of the night……………………………................................................................................................................. 265lbs… "The Smashing Machine" Lyndon Jones (8-1-0) vs. "Wrench Pipe" Dimitrius Sanchez (6-1-0)…… Main Event time and this is a huge Heavyweight clash. Not much can be said about Jones other then he is a BFFL legend. Inducted into the Hall of Fame for his exploits at the now defunct Super Heavy division he still proudly displays that title and now has moved down to Heavyweight to hopefully dominate there too. Sanchez has something to say about that though, having been in the BFFL Heavyweight division since his first fight he wants a title shot and will not like someone coming in and denying him that. Jones’ game plan will be simple, continue what he has always done, using his Wonderful Boxing to and KO Power to end fights quickly and he may need to do that here, Sanchez is a very dangerous guy, he has Remarkable Boxing but also Remarkable Wrestling and a Brown belt which he has used to submit people as well as (T)KO them. Jones won’t want any part of a ground battle, he has only a Blue belt and is going to have to hope his Strong Wrestling can hold up against the probable onslaught of takedown attempts. If it stays on feet then Jones will have a huge advantage just given his history of finishing fights but if it goes down then the Hall of Fame member is in huge trouble and this is not a fight to lose. The winner of this fight, I hear, is going to take on current heavyweight king Mullard for his title and that is a huge incentive for both men to go all out for the win. Its going to be a huge main event to cap a great show and while I think that Sanchez has a more varied attack, its hard to see past Jones to take the fight.……………………………................................................................................................................ And that is it for the event, I wish everyone good luck with their fights and hope they all put on a great show for the fans. Nothing left for me to say other then I hope this preview came out better then last weeks! And to say I’m Kurt Hustle saying until next week stay safe and keep fighting!
