Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Nutz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Tamburello! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tamburello paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Tamburello throws a series of punches but Nutz avoids them all with ease. A big left from Tamburello misses. The crowd cheers as Tamburello lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nutz doesn't seem phased though. Jab, jab by Tamburello - just one landing. Tamburello throws a nice looking combination but Nutz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nutz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tamburello's waist but Tamburello gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nutz off to one side. No joy there for Tamburello, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tamburello lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nutz at a distance.
Nutz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tamburello sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nutz somewhat. Tamburello lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Tamburello connects with a jab. Tamburello catches Nutz napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Nutz to the canvas!
Nutz is rocked! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tamburello's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Oh Nutz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Tamburello postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Nutz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tamburello!
That's one minute gone in the round. Tamburello tries to hold on but Nutz pushes him away. Nutz seems to have got his legs back now. Nutz looking for a guillotine from mount but Tamburello is having none of it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tamburello is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tamburello can't escape the position.

Nutz landing strikes from the mount. Nutz lands a big shot there that rocks Tamburello but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Nutz is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tamburello has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Nutz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nutz wants to control the pace but Tamburello is squirming around nicely. Tamburello really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nutz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nutz throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nutz lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Tamburello tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tamburello is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nutz thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nutz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Nutz lands a big elbow. Nutz scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Nutz looking to ground and pound but Tamburello is blocking nicely. Tamburello is trying to escape the mount.
Nutz wants to finish this one by submission but Tamburello is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Nutz. Nutz is breathing heavily. Nutz prevents Tamburello from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nutz looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Nutz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Tamburello is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Nutz has taken his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Tamburello preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Nutz. Tamburello has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Nutz looking for the RNC. Nutz has the hooks in. Tamburello is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Tamburello trying to control but not successfully. Tamburello is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tamburello trying to get back to his feet but Nutz is in full control for now. Nutz looking for the choke from the back. Nutz is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Tamburello up.
Nutz throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Tamburello is trying to defend against the choke here but Nutz has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Nutz Tightens the hold and Tamburello taps out furiously! Nutz displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Foster shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Larson is trying to defend but Foster finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Foster missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Foster tries to pass to full mount but Larson defends it. Foster tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Larson. Larson looking for submissions off his back. Foster is trying to control the action in half guard but Larson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Larson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Foster wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving. Larson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Foster shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Larson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Larson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Foster wants to get back to his feet. Larson is keen to just control but Foster is a slippery customer. Foster trying to control here.
Larson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Foster doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Larson. Larson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Foster with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Foster regains full guard. Nicely done. Larson looking to sit in guard and control but Foster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Foster would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Foster is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Larson wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment. Foster working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Larson's head. Foster lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Larson wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment. Foster trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Foster pushing down on Larson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Foster is trying to control. Larson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Foster tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Foster seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Foster prevents Larson from improving his position. Foster is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Larson! Larson wants to control but Foster is having none of it. Larson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Foster is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Foster can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Larson is looking to escape. Foster with a couple of short strikes. Foster working Larson over with strikes here. Foster lands a big elbow. Foster content just to control the position here. Foster trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ben Foster will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Foster trying to control but Larson is working from the bottom. Foster is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Larson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Foster as he avoids it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Larson shoots and misses and Foster makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Larson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Foster.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Larson shoots in and bounces Foster off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Larson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Foster has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Larson is looking to defend but Foster has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Larson! Foster pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Larson taps out and this one is all over!

Osborne shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Osborne tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance. Osborne sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces Osborne off the ropes and back into rage. Jones with a jab. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Osborne.
Jones is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Osborne scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Jones scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Osborne takes one to the side of the head.
Crunch! Jones slams his shin into Osborne's torso. Osborne tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Osborne misses the body punch and Jones counters with a two punch combo.

Oh, that's bad for Osborne! Jones is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Osborne to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Osborne shrugs it off. Osborne in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Jones landing strikes from the mount. Jones looking to control but Osborne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Osborne is desperately trying to improve his position but Jones has a good base and remains in mount.

Joe Nash had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivers scores with a takedown into Makiavala's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makiavala can do anything to dispel that myth. Rivers stays in close to Makiavala's body and controls the position. Rivers wants to control from the top but Makiavala keeps moving. Rivers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rivers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Makiavala is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Rivers is pulling down on Makiavala's head to control his posture. Rivers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Makiavala is looking to escape. Makiavala seems to have recovered his senses. Makiavala is desperately trying to improve his position but Rivers has a good base and remains in mount. Rivers wants to control the pace but Makiavala is squirming around nicely.
