9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shoryu Ken! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ken avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A chopping leg kick lands by Montoya. Ken shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Montoya's guard. Ken working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Montoya trying to control the position.
Ken trying to control the position from guard on top but Montoya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Montoya can't keep his opponent in guard - Ken advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Montoya avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ken.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ken seems to be working for a kimura but Montoya defends the submission attempt. Ken prevents Montoya from improving his position. Ken is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Montoya is defending against the submission attempts here by Ken.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ken is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Montoya reverses the position - he's now on top in Ken's guard. Montoya wants to pass the guard but Ken is keeping the position. Ken can't keep his opponent in guard - Montoya advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Montoya is just content to waste time from the top position. Ken takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Ken trying to keep a closed guard but Montoya is proving a slippery customer.

Shoryu Ken dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Montoya throws a chopping leg kick but Ken manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Ken throws the left hand but Montoya avoids the punch easily. Ken misses with a looping right. Montoya throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Montoya. Montoya lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Montoya throws a front kick aimed at Ken's knee but Ken avoids it well. Montoya fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ken manages to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Montoya misses with a low kick.

Montoya misses with a looping left. Jab by Montoya. Montoya looks to throw the jab but Ken is out of range. Montoya takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
It looks like Hidalgo Montoya has been cut. Montoya swings for the body but Ken moves out of range.
A good leg kick by Montoya. Ken throws a hook but Montoya blocks it. Ken lands a nice looking body shot.
A solid body kick from Montoya. Ken is trying hard to land a takedown here. Montoya sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ken avoids the body shot from Montoya.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montoya walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ken checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Montoya scores with a sloppy right hand. Ken should have avoided that one. Nice body punch from Montoya. Montoya lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ken misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Montoya.
Montoya will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice body punch from Montoya. Hidalgo Montoya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sloppy strikes from Montoya. Those never looked like landing. Montoya thows a body shot but no joy. An inside leg kick lands from Montoya. Montoya lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Montoya is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Montoya misses with a hook to the body
and Ken counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ken tries to free his leg and advance position but Montoya is retaining full guard. Ken wants to control from the top but Montoya keeps moving. Ken with a flurry of punches that miss. Montoya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ken is one step ahead there. Montoya keeping moving, preventing Ken from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Shoryu Ken wasn't active enough on the ground. Montoya with a nice cross. Montoya getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Montoya connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ken doesn't succeed with the takedown and Montoya counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Montoya swings away with a body shot that misses
and Ken counters with a shoot takedown. Montoya fights it but they end up in guard. Ken stopping the sweep attempt from Montoya. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shoryu Ken showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Hidalgo Montoya's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Ken slips under a jab from Montoya. Montoya throws a nice looking combination but Ken bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Montoya tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ken was well out of range. Poor timing from Montoya. Ken gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Ken misses with a hook. Donk. Montoya catches Ken right on the button with a cross. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ken gets a takedown into half guard. Montoya trying to control but Ken postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Ken is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ken passes easily into side control. Nice work. Ken trying to control the position but Montoya is working away. Hidalgo Montoya has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Montoya gets back to half guard. Ken is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Montoya sees it coming and defends easily. Ken controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montoya is pressing down on Ken's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Ken stopping the sweep attempt from Montoya. Ken loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Montoya can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ken controls the pace. Montoya keeping moving, preventing Ken from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ken looking to sit in guard and control but Montoya gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ken wants to sweep here but Montoya controlling him for the moment. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ken wants to control the position but Montoya says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Shoryu Ken. I've got Ken winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walrustitty moves out of range of the body kick. Walrustitty throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McPuggins's waist but McPuggins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walrustitty off to one side. McPuggins moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
McPuggins throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. McPuggins lands a nice looking body kick. Good leg kick by McPuggins there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Walrustitty shoots in for a double leg but McPuggins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Walrustitty shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McPuggins sprawls well. McPuggins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walrustitty gets slowly back to his feet. Flash McPuggins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jethro Walrustitty. McPuggins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McPuggins misses with a kick to the body.

McPuggins throws a low kick, looking for Walrustitty's leg but Walrustitty calmly moves out of range. Walrustitty takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Walrustitty throws a leg kick but McPuggins checks it. A looping hook to the body misses from McPuggins. Walrustitty does a little dance to reset his feet. McPuggins lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Walrustitty looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McPuggins! Walrustitty working for a submission but McPuggins is keeping him at bay.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walrustitty is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McPuggins has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McPuggins! Walrustitty looking for a sweep. Not yet Walrustitty, not yet. Walrustitty isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McPuggins stacks Walrustitty on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McPuggins! Walrustitty struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walrustitty tries to buck McPuggins off but McPuggins is having none of it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Walrustitty tries to control the position but he's not in luck - McPuggins easily slips into full mount! McPuggins is looking to stand but McPuggins has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Walrustitty is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Walrustitty bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Walrustitty stays in close to McPuggins's body and controls the position. Walrustitty pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McPuggins is keeping the position for now. McPuggins wants to stand up but Walrustitty is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - McPuggins looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A low kick from McPuggins misses and Walrustitty counters with a nice leg kick. Walrustitty has a takedown stuffed. Flash McPuggins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McPuggins tries to close the distance and clinch but Walrustitty swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McPuggins dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Walrustitty circles away from the clinch attempt and Walrustitty makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Levin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Levin missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Levin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Child does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Levin seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Levin trying to control but Child is having none of it. Levin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Levin loads up with a big shot that hurts Child! He's pulled Levin in close but Levin has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Child survive? More strikes from Levin and Child is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ham looks to score with a jab to the body but Phillips is just out of range. Ham misses with a hook. Phillips ducked under it nicely. Phillips jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ham lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ham swings for the body but Phillips moves out of range.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ham works his way back into a safe position though. Phillips keeping full guard, as Ham tries to pass. Olufunmilola kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Doctor Octagon-Earth People (Enitian Olufunmilola Remix). St Croix has chosen A Little Respect as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Steele takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Good standup being displayed there by Kraken as he connects with a hook. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Kraken has cracked Steele with a big right, followed by a left!
