The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Savage misses. Gomez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Savage tries to bum rush Gomez with a series of wild strikes but Gomez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gomez tries to clinch but Savage moves out of range. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Gomez. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gomez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Carter punishes Gunn's body with a nice straight punch. Gunn gets a clinch. Gunn gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Carter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gunn is one step ahead there. Gunn being controlled here momentarily. Gunn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Carter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carter is trying to control the position but Gunn postures up. Carter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gunn! A nice elbow there by Carter. Carter unloads with some shots from mount but Gunn bucks and avoids them well.

Carter cracks Gunn with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gunn throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Gunn is in a horrible position here. Carter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gunn tries to reverse the position but Carter maintains control. Carter lands a big shot there that rocks Gunn but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Carter wants to control the pace but Gunn is squirming around nicely. Carter throwing strikes here but Gunn is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Gunn wants to control the pace but Carter is squirming around nicely. Gunn is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Carter has managed to escape the submission attempt.

No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Gunn's legs - danger averted. Gunn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gunn keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully. Carter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Carter postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Carter sitting in guard, not really doing much. Gunn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Carter wanted to stand there but Gunn had control of the position.
