The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brookins misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Brookins lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brookins. Smith scores with a hook to the body. Brookins takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brookins swats him away and circles back towards the center. Brookins lands a high kick!
It looks like David Smith has been cut. Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there. Smith prevents Brookins from improving his position. Smith decides to return to a standing position. Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brookins! Smith lands a heavy elbow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Max bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Bob wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Bob throws Max to one side and escapes! Max fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bob avoids it really well and circles away. Max tries for a takedown but Bob sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Max misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. William Bob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepsi Max. Bob lands with an overhand left. Bob stalks Max and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Max's face. Max staggers backwards, shaken. Bob bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Max's head backwards. Bob is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Max's half guard. Max controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bob wants to pass to mount but Max is defending the position. Bob wants to take a breather but Max is having none of it. Max wants to control but Bob is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Max takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Max shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bob trying to control the position.

Max seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bob does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Max frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Max is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Max extends the arm and Bob is forced to tap!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Longun scores with a sloppy right hand. Diao should have avoided that one. Diao on the wrong end of a nice jab. Diao staying out of range there. Longun throws a series of punches but Diao moves out of range. Longun with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Luke Longun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diao takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Longun catches Diao with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Diao blocks a head kick by Longun.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Longun checks a leg kick. Longun digs a good body shot into Diao's ribs.

Diao digs a right hand into Longun's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Longun's gas tank. Longun really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Brookins manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A big mistake from Tatum there, giving up the dominant position! Tatum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brookins trying to remain calm as Tatum controls from the top position. Tatum tries to move into full mount but can't pass Brookins's legs. Tatum in side control, just content to control the action for now. Brookins wants to control but Tatum postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Danny Tatum comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Tatum has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
