5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brad Finley! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Finley scores with a takedown into Rutten's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Finley looking to sit in guard and control but Rutten gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rutten wants to control from the top but Finley keeps moving. Rutten preventing the sweep. Rutten got a little sloppy there for a moment and Finley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rutten has managed to get both his arms back between Finley's legs - danger averted. Rutten wants to control from the top but Finley keeps moving. Finley has his foot on Rutten's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rutten works his way back into a safe position though. Rutten sitting in guard here, content to control. Finley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rutten can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Finley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rutten is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten preventing the sweep. Rutten's corner is telling him to maintain position. Finley wants to improve his position but instead Rutten has moved into half guard.
Rutten controlling the pace. Finley looking for submissions off his back. Finley is not content to let Rutten control the position. Rutten works his foot free and advances to mount. Finley in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Finley tries to lock up and control but Rutten gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Finley sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Finley actively working from the bottom here. Finley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rutten counters with a head kick. Alistair Rutten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Finley. Finley is breathing heavily. Rutten connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Finley throws a jab but it's blocked by Rutten. Rutten with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A shot to the body from Finley misses and Rutten counters with a leg kick. Finley throws a lazy head kick and Rutten counters with a nice kick to the body. Finley looks to land a combination but Rutten avoids it well. Danga de danga de dang - Rutten scores with a four punch combination! Finley has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rutten. Finley shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Finley misses the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rutten.
Rutten bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Finley's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rutten clinches up with Finley and pushes him back against the cage. Rutten putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Finley in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Knees to the body from Rutten.

Finley misses with a wild body shot. Rutten moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Rutten connects with a leg kick. Finley looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Rutten wants to clinch up but Finley keeps it at a distance. Finley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Rutten lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Finley. Rutten pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A head kick from Rutten lands but Finley takes it in his stride. Rutten pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Finley takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Finley has his takedown stuffed and Rutten counters with a nice leg kick. Rutten feints and as Finley raises his hands in defense, Rutten changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rutten not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rutten wants to control from the top but Finley keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Finley looks to land a left hand but Rutten moved out of range nicely. Finley misses with a body kick. Finley swinging wildly here.

Finley takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Finley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Finley trying to control the action but Rutten is working from the bottom. Finley looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rutten is avoiding damage well.
Alistair Rutten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Finley in side control, throwing shots but Rutten defends. Rutten wants to control but Finley postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alistair Rutten. Well Rutten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Esko enables Santana to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Esko manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Santana trying to control but Esko is working from the bottom. Esko wants to stand and escape but Santana is having none of it. Santana advances position into side control! Santana is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Esko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Santana has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana controls the position. Santana decides to take the fight back to the feet. Santana changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Esko tries to avoid it but Santana manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Esko to the ground. Esko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Esko leaves Santana with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Santana throws a series of punches but Esko moves out of range. Santana checks the leg kick. Santana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Esko's waist but Esko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santana off to one side. BB Esko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Santana throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Santana thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Santana tries to advance to mount but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! BB Esko showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Esko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Travos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steel pinned against the cage. Steel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Travos looks for a takedown but Steel sprawls well. Travos blocks an uppercut.

He's now in Travos's guard. Nice move by Steel! Steel stopping the sweep attempt from Travos. Travos pulls Steel in to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Travos looking for a sweep. Travos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Steel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Travos. Steel wants to get back to his feet but Travos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Travos shoots for a takedown but Steel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Travos showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Steel.

With the fighters up against the cage, Steel throws an elbow but misses. Steel connects with a knee to the head.
