Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Stenner!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stenner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stenner drops back looking for a leg! Johnson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johnson manages to kick Stenner off! Stenner jumps back into Johnson's guard.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.

Johnson is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stenner wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Stenner is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Stenner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

OK we're going to have a standup here. DJ Stenner hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stenner closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Stenner pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Stenner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stenner on the ground.

Stenner wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Johnson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Stenner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
DeShaun Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Stenner.

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stenner sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Johnson is trying to control. Stenner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stenner is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.

Johnson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Stenner to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Johnson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Stenner pulls down on the head and he's put Johnson to sleep! This one is all over!
