The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cricket lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Karvaturpamz circles away quickly and effectively. Cricket lands a head shot. Karvaturpamz slips under a jab from Cricket. Cricket lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Jagemi Karvaturpamz has been cut. Cricket instigates a clinch. Cricket gets through Karvaturpamz's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Karvaturpamz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cricket's elbow. Cricket misses with a punch to the body.

Saplin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hendrikson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hendrikson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Saplin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hendrikson throws out the jab. Saplin shoots for a takedown but Hendrikson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hendrikson wants to clinch.

and Saplin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Saplin stands up and waves to Hendrikson to follow him. Hendrikson wants to clinch but Saplin slips to the side and Saplin counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Saplin decides to stand and escape the position. Hendrikson missing with a left hand there. Saplin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saplin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hendrikson as he avoids it easily. Saplin fails to land the takedown. Saplin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hendrikson pinned against the cage. Hendrikson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hendrikson wants to clinch and Saplin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Saplin escapes and gets back to his feet. Saplin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Saplin stands up and we're back to a striking position. Saplin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hendrikson but Hendrikson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Saplin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hendrikson circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hendrikson slaps away a takedown attempt from Saplin, before circling back to the center of the mat. Saplin shoots for a takedown but Hendrikson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A low kick from Hendrikson is predictable there and Saplin counters with a nice double leg into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Saplin stands up from guard. Let's bang! Saplin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Saplin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hendrikson defends it nicely. Saplin shoots in for a takedown but Hendrikson shows good takedown defense. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Saplin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hendrikson's waist but Hendrikson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Saplin off to one side. Saplin has a takedown stuffed. Saplin shoots in for a takedown but Hendrikson shows good takedown defense. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He lands a short punch in the meantime. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mann maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Zordick could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mann has cracked it and Zordick is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mann!
