The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rook keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Anderson. Rook steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Anderson. Anderson throws a big shot that misses. Anderson misses with a straight right. Rook lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Rook lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Anderson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rook wants to control but Anderson postures up. Anderson trying to control the action but Rook is working from the bottom. Rook tries to buck Anderson off but Anderson is having none of it. Anderson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. A slapping leg kick lands for Rook.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson throws a series of strikes that have Aveira backpedaling.
Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Aveira closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away. Johnson throws a right and a left that Aveira avoids nicely. Aveira takes one on the button. Aveira shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aveira wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position. Aveira in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Aveira working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Aveira tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Junior Aveira has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aveira is landing with some decent strikes but Johnson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Roger Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Charles's guard.

Johnson distracts Davison with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davison is pulling down on Johnson's head to control his posture. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Buckner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Harris! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buckner digs a good body shot into Harris's ribs. Buckner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Buckner misses with a few strikes there.
Harris misses with a looping left. Harris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Buckner wants to sweep but no luck. Buckner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Harris drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Buckner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harris has Buckner in his guard. Harris avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Buckner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Buckner throws and elbow that misses. Harris uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buckner's guard. Nice move by Harris! Harris is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Buckner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Buckner has escaped and now he's on top! Harris is trying to control the position but Buckner postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Harris keeping moving, preventing Buckner from controlling successfully. Buckner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Buckner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A decent looking cross lands there for Harris. Harris swings and misses with a shot to the body and Buckner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Harris shoots in looking for a takedown but Buckner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A slow jab from Buckner misses its intended target. Harris takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Harris steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Buckner. Buckner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Harris moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Buckner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Harris moves away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. No joy there for Buckner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Harris wants to pass the guard but Buckner is keeping the position. Buckner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Harris wants to control from the top but Buckner keeps moving. Harris drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Buckner dives on top into guard. Harris keeping moving, preventing Buckner from controlling successfully. Buckner looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Buckner looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Buckner! Buckner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harris keeps working. Buckner is really struggling to control Harris but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Buckner working the ground and pound from side control. Harris is not content to let Buckner control the position. Harris can't do much from the bottom here. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Matheus Buckner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Harris misses with an uppercut. Harris fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Buckner manages to avoid it. Harris slips a jab from Buckner.

Harris eats them both and turns towards Buckner to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Buckner is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Buckner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. A punch lands to the side of Harris 's head but he takes it in his stride. No luck with that takedown attempt from Harris. Harris takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Buckner is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Buckner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Harris. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buckner wants to control but Harris is keeping busy.
Buckner gets full guard. Buckner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Buckner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Harris thows a big elbow that misses. Harris postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Buckner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Harris, into his guard. Buckner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harris is proving hard to escape from.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buckner stands up from guard. Let's bang! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Buckner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Buckner slips a straight right by Harris. Paul Harris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Buckner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! Matheus Buckner showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Buckner, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
