Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soda Popinkski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Branislav Boledovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boledovic is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cannibal Corpse - Evidence In The Furnace. Soda Popinkski had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boledovic gets caught flat footed, as Popinkski shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Popinkski trying to control but Boledovic is working from the bottom. Boledovic uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Boledovic moves out of range of the strikes. Boledovic tests Popinkski's chin there with a solid looking shot. Popinkski throws the left hand but Boledovic avoids the punch easily. Popinkski throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Popinkski. A head kick misses from Boledovic. Popinkski lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Boledovic throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Boledovic drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boledovic stands up and beckons Popinkski to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Popinkski misses with an uppercut. Popinkski jabbing away but nothing is landing. A slow jab from Popinkski misses its intended target. Boledovic lands a slapping body shot.

Popinkski is breathing heavily. Decent striking displayed by Boledovic there. Boledovic scores with a takedown into Popinkski's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Boledovic is looking to stand up but Popinkski won't let him. Boledovic is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Popinkski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boledovic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Boledovic stands up and waves to Popinkski to follow him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A slapping body kick lands there for Boledovic. Boledovic fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Popinkski on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Boledovic tries to clinch up. Boledovic clinches up against the cage. Boledovic breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Boledovic misses with a jab, cross combination.
Boledovic closes the distance and pushes Popinkski back into the cage. Boledovic manages to break the clinch.

Masaru displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Routalempi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Masaru stuffs the takedown. Routalempi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Masaru ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Masaru tries to bum rush Routalempi with a series of wild strikes but Routalempi uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Masaru works over Routalempi's head and body with a nice combination. Masaru scores with a sloppy right hand. Routalempi should have avoided that one. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Masaru!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Masaru fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Masaru connects with a body shot. Tadashi Masaru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Routalempi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Masaru has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Routalempi to stand back up!

Moonwalker being controlled here momentarily. Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Smith really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Tsakada misses with an uppercut. Decent striking displayed by Tsakada there. Lee Tsakada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice defenses there by Imamu. Tsakada thuds his right hand into Imamu's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Imamu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tsakada. The fighters circling - Tsakada throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Imamu jabbing away but nothing is landing. Danga de danga de dang - Imamu scores with a four punch combination!
