0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drake Fern! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clay moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Clay could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Clay shoots in and drives through. Fern sprawls well. Some wild striking there from Fern.
Fern leaves Clay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Clay has taken the fight to the clinch.
Clay pulls guard successfully.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fern's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Fern stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clay swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fern works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Clay has hold of Fern's hands but Fern slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Clay is trying to stand back up but Fern is controlling him
Fern seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fern trying to control from half guard but Clay is working away. Clay is looking to improve his position.
Fern escapes and gets back to his feet. Clay circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck for Clay with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Clay. That's going to take a lot out of him. Clay scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fern in his tracks. Fern has his takedown stuffed and Clay makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Fern has his takedown stuffed and Clay counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Fern looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clay lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Fern backs up against the cage.
Fern tries to sprawl but Clay drives through with a takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Clay frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Clay is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fern has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fern! Fern stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clay swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fern looking to sit in guard and control but Clay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Fern keeping moving, preventing Clay from controlling successfully. Clay misses with a takedown attempt - Fern sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Fern closes the distance but Clay moves to the side and Clay counters with a one-two to the body.

Fern decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Fern decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Clay swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Clay with a poor takedown and Fern decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Clay's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fern pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Clay is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Clay looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Drake Fern will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Clay scores with a hook. Fern gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Clay. A looping hook to the body misses from Fern. Clay does a little dance to reset his feet. Fern fails with an attempt to clinch.
An inside leg kick lands from Fern. Clay shoots in and gets a takedown into Fern's guard. Clay has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Clay with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fern is on top in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fern accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Clay wants to sweep here but Fern controlling him for the moment. Clay keeping moving, preventing Fern from controlling successfully. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fern gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Fern closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Clay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fern.
Fern turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fern manages to end up in side control. Clay is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Fern is controlling him well. Fern is trying to ground and pound but Clay uses the momentary lack of control by Fern to regain half guard. Clay is looking to control Fern's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clay avoid being mounted?

Clay regains full guard. Nicely done. Fern trying to control the position from guard on top but Clay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Clay being controlled here, momentarily. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Drake Fern hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Clay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fern swats him away and circles back towards the center. Fern throws a left and a right that both miss
and Clay counters with a right hand to the body. Clay is looking to clinch but Fern is avoiding it.
Fern leaves Clay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jake Clay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Fern misses with a takedown so Clay counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Clay drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fern looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fern looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fern! Fern tries for a kimura but Clay is defending well. Clay gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Drake Fern has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fern thows a huge punch but Clay dodges it nicely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jake Clay will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Fern throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Clay tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fern is in Clay's guard. Fern throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Fern stopping the sweep attempt from Clay. Clay trying to keep a closed guard but Fern is proving a slippery customer.
Clay wants to get back to his feet but Fern is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Fern passes Clay's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fern trying to mount his opponent but Clay defends it.

Clay is staying active underneath Fern, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Clay tries to roll over but Fern keeps him under control. Fern seems to be working for a kimura but Clay defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Clay tries to get to full guard but Fern has control of the leg. Clay is trying to stand up here but Fern is controlling him well. Fern is working for a submission of some sort.

A lull in the action here.
Fern is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Fern gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Fern gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Fern apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Fern throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clay's waist but Clay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fern off to one side. Fern ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Fern shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fern showed some decent athleticism there. Fern wants to take a breather but Clay is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Drake Fern comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Fern has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zhu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shields swats away the attempt to clinch by Zhu. Shields lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Zhang Zhu has been cut. Shields connects with a nice looking jab.
Zhu is rocked! Shields looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A head kick misses from Zhu. Zhu misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Zhu fails in his attempt to clinch. Zhu tries to clinch but Shields moves out of range. Zhu tries to clinch up but Shields circles away and keeps his distance. Zhu closes the distance and clinches up with Shields, looking for a takedown. Zhu pushes Shields against the cage but Shields circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Shields misses with a double jab.

Zhu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shields pinned against the cage. Shields gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Oh Zhu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Zhu is breathing heavily.

Zhu seems to have got his legs back now. Nice sprawl there from Shields as Zhu shoots in. Shields throws a series of punches but Zhu avoids them all with ease. Zhu loses concentration momentarily and Shields pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Zhu crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Shields finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Meada walks into a left hand. Meada misses with a wild body shot. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Laane feints and then cracks Meada's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Meada down. Laane swinging wildly here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Shark tries to bum rush King with a series of wild strikes but King uses good footwork to avoid the assault. King wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The Shark is on the wrong end of a nice combination from King.
It looks like Isamu The Shark has been cut. King throws an overhand right that lands on The Shark's shoulder, as The Shark tries to avoid the shot. The Shark's hands are dropping dangerously low here and King connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! The Shark scrambles back to his feet.
The Shark is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. King cracks The Shark with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends The Shark tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but King pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! The Shark is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Veliki sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Lomar is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Lomar looks to move to half guard but instead Veliki has passed into mount! Damn! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Veliki punishing his opponent with strikes. Veliki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Veliki cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that's the end of the fight! Vladimir Veliki showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Veliki, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
