1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jimmy Benson! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
StPierre misses with a straight right. StPierre misses with a double jab
and Benson counters with a leg kick. StPierre throws a left and a right that both miss
and Benson counters with a nice double leg into side control. StPierre won't be happy with that. StPierre trying to remain calm as Benson controls from the top position. Benson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Benson controls the position. Benson wants to control but StPierre is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. StPierre pushes Benson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Benson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Benson trying to control the position but StPierre is working away. Benson throws a strike aimed at the side of StPierre's head but StPierre avoids it well. StPierre is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. StPierre is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Benson has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Benson wants to control for a moment but StPierre uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Benson trying to control from half guard but StPierre is working away. Benson slows the pace down in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Benson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. StPierre throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. StPierre showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Benson.

so Benson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Benson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Benson postures up in StPierre's guard and throws a big left but StPierre blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. StPierre wants to stand and escape but Benson is having none of it. StPierre uses the cage to get back to his feet.

and Benson finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. StPierre swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Benson counters with a nice body shot. Benson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but StPierre swivels and escapes. StPierre misses with a double jab
and Benson counters with a two punch combo. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. StPierre throws a combination that misses and Benson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in StPierre's guard now. Benson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Benson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. StPierre wants to get back to his feet but Benson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Benson wants to control from the top but StPierre keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. StPierre falls off balance throwing a combination
and Benson counters with a left to the body. Benson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Benson is trying to ground and pound but StPierre uses the momentary lack of control by Benson to regain half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy Benson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Benson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but StPierre sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Benson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. StPierre is trying to buck Benson off. StPierre wants to get back to his feet but Benson is dominant here and he's now got StPierre's back! StPierre is in a bad position with Benson working for a choke. StPierre manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes StPierre off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Nice straight punches there by StPierre. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of StPierre. StPierre throws a left and a right that both miss

Benson looks to land a combination but StPierre avoids it well. Jimmy Benson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight! Jimmy Benson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Benson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joyce Pavlenko misses with a straight left. Joyce Pavlenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Overima circles away. Overima ducks under a wild hook from Joyce Pavlenko. Overima misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Overima bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Overima tries for a kimura but Joyce Pavlenko is defending well. Overima working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Overima tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Overima is working to tighten is grip on Joyce Pavlenko's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Joyce Pavlenko has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Overima is really squeezing tight and eventually Joyce Pavlenko passes out! Overima breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good shot there by Colvin. Volkov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Volkov fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Volkov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Volkov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Horrible takedown by Volkov or perhaps it was just good defense by Colvin which made him look bad. Colvin shoots and misses and Volkov counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Colvin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Volkov is working away from the top position though. Colvin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Volkov. Colvin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Volkov tries to free his leg and advance position but Colvin is retaining full guard. Colvin pulls Volkov in close to prevent any damage. Volkov trying to control but Colvin is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kinionez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Shamba wants to get back to his feet. Shamba closes the distance but Kinionez moves to the side and Kinionez counters with a left and a right that stings Shamba. Besik Shamba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kinionez scores with a decent looking hook. Kinionez shoots for a double leg takedown but Shamba sprawls well. He's pushed Kinionez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Shamba is looking to clinch but Kinionez is avoiding it.
Shamba throws a jab but it's blocked by Kinionez. Shamba lands a big head kick that sends Kinionez tumbling to the mat! Shamba takes a step backwards and waves Kinionez back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Shamba is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamba can do anything to dispel that myth. Kinionez is controlling the pace.

A head kick from Shamba lands but Kinionez takes it in his stride. Shamba lands with a straight right. Kinionez didn't see that one coming. Shamba stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Shamba throws a head kick that misses. Kinionez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Shamba throws a combination that misses and Kinionez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kinionez. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kinionez slips nicely into half guard. Kinionez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinionez moves away from the strike by Shamba. Shamba throws a sloppy head kick and Kinionez moves out of range easily. Oooooh!!! Shamba has knocked Kinionez down with a huge combo! Shamba steps away and waves a wobbly Kinionez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer! Oh Kinionez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Shamba and Kinionez are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Shamba throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Kinionez into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Shamba knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yeva throws a sloppy head kick and BURLAKA moves out of range easily. Yeva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with BURLAKA, pushing him back against the cage. Yeva dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. BURLAKA is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Yeva pulls him back up using the underhooks. Yeva tries to break the clinch but BURLAKA is controlling the position. Yeva is trying to push BURLAKA away but BURLAKA has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Yeva tries to break the clinch but BURLAKA is controlling the position. Nice body punch from Yeva - that landed with a thud.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kenn shoots for a double leg takedown but Sillva sprawls well. He's pushed Kenn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kenn shoots for a takedown but Sillva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kenn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sillva looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Kenn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sillva showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kenn tries to clinch but Sillva is having none of it. Sillva with a lazy takedown attempt and Kenn finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Kenn misses with a takedown and Sillva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for CJ Kenn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kenn tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kenn wants to stand up but Sillva is controlling him. Sillva tries to free his leg and advance position but Kenn is retaining full guard. Sillva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sillva passes easily into side control. Nice work. Kenn prevents Sillva from improving position. Kenn is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sillva has just dragged him back down to the mat. Sillva controlling from side mount. I looks like Sillva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. You can see the frustration on Kenn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sillva in side control lands a decent elbow. Sillva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Kenn is looking to reverse the position. Kenn is letting Sillva control him for a moment. Kenn is trying to buck Sillva off. Sillva taking a breather here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sillva landing strikes. Sillva working away. Kenn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sillva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Sillva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kenn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sillva controlling the position. Sillva is trying to move to mount but Kenn reverses beautifully and ends up in Sillva's guard. Kenn is looking to work some ground and pound but Sillva has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anderson Sillva dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. Kenn passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sillva! Kenn misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
