The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bunoyan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bashkin quickly recovers to half guard.

Smirnov lands a lovely overhand right.
Smirnov swats away the attempt to clinch by Willard.
Willard avoids a punch combination nicely.

McCartny moves into the clinch successfully.
McCartny wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sherstikov has him pressed against the cage.
Sherstikov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McCartny walks away with a smile on his face. Sherstikov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sherstikov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sherstikov lands a nice shot that snaps McCartny's head back.

McCartny has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
