Man kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Why can't we be friends?. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Nice takedown defense from Hammet. No joy for Aronoff on that attempt.

and Aronoff decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hammet's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Aronoff is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Aronoff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hammet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aronoff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Aronoff is working to tighten is grip on Hammet's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hammet has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Aronoff is really squeezing tight and eventually Hammet passes out! Aronoff breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Karlsson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hitla finds it's way round the side to connect with Karlsson's head.
A telegraphed right hand from Hitla misses the target.
Hitla throws a hook but Karlsson avoids it easily.
Hitla just misses with a punch to the body.

Hitla looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Karlsson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hitla doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hitla manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Karlsson wants to control but Hitla passes easily into half guard.
