The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aelfheah is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nice sprawl there from Aelfheah as Simakuutio shoots in. Aelfheah tries to close the distance and clinch but Simakuutio swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Aelfheah wants to clinch. Aelfheah is looking to clinch but Simakuutio is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simakuutio shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Aelfheah working a defensive guard here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pekka on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Packsapow swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Packsapow avoids a punch combination nicely.
Packsapow scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Packsapow stalks Pekka and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pekka's face. Pekka staggers backwards, shaken. Packsapow just misses with a punch to the body.
Manny Packsapow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Packsapow lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Packsapow ducks down and throws a hook to the body. A left and a right from Packsapow both land. Nice combination. Packsapow swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pekka counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Nice takedown defense from Packsapow. No joy for Pekka on that attempt. Some wild striking there from Packsapow.

That was a close round but I would say that Manny Packsapow will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Packsapow looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Packsapow has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Jukka Pekka has got the better of the ground game so far. A nice elbow there by Pekka. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pekka controlling from the full mount. Pekka has control of Packsapow's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Packsapow regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pekka looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Packsapow is trying to reverse the position but instead Pekka has taken his back - oops! Pekka wants to control but Packsapow is keeping busy.

It looks like Yuri Krakov has been cut. Kroon catches Krakov napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Krakov to the canvas!
Krakov is rocked! Krakov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Krakov wants to sweep but no luck. Oh Krakov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kroon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krakov swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kroon stands up and waves to Krakov to follow him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A big right followed by a crushing left from Kroon knocks Krakov out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! BENNETT has a takedown stuffed. Had throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around BENNETT's waist but BENNETT gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Had off to one side. BENNETT throws a nice looking combination but Had bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. BENNETT closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Had to the mat! Had manages to get full guard. BENNETT stays in close to Had's body and controls the position. Had has control of BENNETT's left arm, preventing BENNETT from doing any damage. Had working for a triangle but BENNETT defends it easily.

BENNETT must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. BENNETT trying to control but Had is working from the bottom. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Ward prevents Melamies from getting back to his feet. Ward stands up from Melamies's guard - Ward perhaps looking for a knockout. Melamies doesn't manage to clinch there - Ward circles away.
Melamies moves in looking to clinch but Ward pushes him off. Ward throws a one two combo.

Ward throws a right and a left that both miss. Ward shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ward slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Melamies tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ward really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Melamies. Melamies has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. I would not like to be Melamies right now.
Melamies controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Ward seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Melamies for as long as he can get away with.

Ward shoots for a double leg takedown but Melamies sprawls well. He's pushed Ward's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Palmer Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him. Melamies moves in looking to clinch but Ward pushes him off. Melamies tries to close the distance and clinch but Ward swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Melamies tries to clinch up. Ward swats away the attempt to clinch by Melamies. No luck for Melamies with that takedown attempt. Ward scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ward prevents Melamies from escaping the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Ward shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ward showed some decent athleticism there. Melamies looks like he's trying to stand up.

He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Ward controlling the position easily from mount. Melamies is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Melamies is looking to stand up but Ward isn't so interested in that idea. Ward gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Ward decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Melamies tries to kick Ward off but Ward keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ward. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ward prevents Melamies from escaping the position. Melamies prevents Ward from improving position. Melamies is letting Ward control him for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward decides to stand back up. Ward steps back and let's Melamies get back to his feet. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ward!
Melamies wants to clinch. Ward shoots in and bounces Melamies off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Ward prevents Melamies from getting back to his feet. Ward might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ward stays in close to Melamies's body and controls the position. Melamies wants to stand and escape but Ward is having none of it. Ward stands and steps away. Melamies gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Melamies wants to clinch up but Ward keeps it at a distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Melamies looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Melamies tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ward paws at him with a jab and circles away. Melamies tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ward lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Ward keeps the fight on the outside. Melamies slips a jab and a cross from Ward.
Ward looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Melamies! Melamies squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
