The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Padilla tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Padilla scoring well with a low kick there.
Pouta tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Padilla swivels and escapes. Padilla finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Pouta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pouta wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Padilla, who protects the arm well. Pouta trying to control the position but Padilla is working away. Padilla isn't going anywhere. Pouta tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Padilla is trying to control Pouta's posture but Pouta avoids it. Pouta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Padilla is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pouta wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Padilla, who protects the arm well. Pouta is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padilla wants to control but Pouta postures up. Pouta tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Padilla manages to get back to half guard. Padilla is staying active underneath Pouta, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Padilla wants to control but Pouta is keeping busy and won't allow it. Padilla makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Padilla. Pouta stopping the sweep attempt from Padilla. Padilla is looking to stand up but Pouta isn't so interested in that idea. Padilla controls Pouta momentarily but Pouta frees himself. Pouta stopping the sweep attempt from Padilla. Padilla is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Padilla throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Padilla throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pouta. Padilla misses with a few strikes there.
Pouta has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Padilla finds it's way round the side to connect with Pouta's head. Pouta misses with a takedown attempt - Padilla sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Padilla misses with a head kick.
Padilla pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. No luck for Pouta with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pekka Pouta. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pouta fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Padilla sprawls well initially but Pouta persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pouta seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pouta wants to work for an arm triangle but Padilla is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

David Frank tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. David Frank doesn't succeed with the takedown and Miller counters with a straight right hand. Miller wants to clinch but David Frank slips to the side and David Frank counters with a nice double leg into side control. Miller won't be happy with that. David Frank tries to move into full mount but can't pass Miller's legs. Miller regains half guard. Miller is pressing down on David Frank's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. David Frank is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Miller is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Miller has escaped and now he's on top! David Frank looks gassed! Miller advances position into side control!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobral bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Huerta tries to bench press Sobral off him but Sobral keeps the position. Huerta takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Huerta is rocked! Sobral lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Huerta down.

Nope, Conduit circles away and we're back to standing. Lopez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Lopez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Lopez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Conduit.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thorr walks forward, straight into a front kick from Massa. Massa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Massa wants to pass the guard but Thorr is defending well. Massa is taking a breather. Thorr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Massa escapes and gets back to his feet. Thorr shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Massa as he jumps to the side. Thorr looks gassed! Massa throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Massa throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Thorr. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Massa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Thorr throws a body kick the misses and Massa counters with a body kick. Thorr looks for a takedown but Massa sprawls well. Thorr with a poor takedown and Massa finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Carlos Massa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Valiant Thorr. Massa goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Thorr fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

It looks like Valiant Thorr has been cut. Thorr shoots and misses and Massa counters with a body kick that stops Thorr in his tracks momentarily. Thorr gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Massa counters with a nice body kick. Thorr with a lazy takedown attempt and Massa counters with a body kick that stops Thorr in his tracks momentarily. Massa throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Massa forces Thorr back against the cage and clinches. Thorr successfully pulls guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Massa trying to control the position from guard on top but Thorr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thorr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Massa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Massa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Massa stands and steps away. Thorr gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Thorr gets a takedown into half guard. Thorr passes to full mount! Massa tries to hold on but Thorr postures up. Thorr wants to finish this one by submission but Massa is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Thorr. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Massa wants to control but Thorr is having none of it. Massa is looking to improve his position but Thorr isn't that keen on the idea.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Massa. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Massa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machida lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Pancho Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lopez clinches. Machida breaks from the clinch.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Lopez. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lopez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount!
