The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Malcovitch manages to avoid it.
Vega throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Malcovitch.
Malcovitch tries to clinch but Vega is having none of it.
Malcovitch throws a nice looking combination but Vega bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vega checks a low kick from Malcovitch.

Malcovitch gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vega tries to pull guard but Malcovitch holds him up against the cage and eventually Vega drops back down to his feet.
Vega keeps control of Malcovitch as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Malcovitch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Malcovitch feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Vega sprawling to the canvas! Vega rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Malcovitch finish him?!
Vega shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Malcovitch misses with a double jab

and Vega counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Vega drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Malcovitch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vega has Malcovitch in his guard.
Malcovitch must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Malcovitch is posturing up here but Vega has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Malcovitch tries to roll out but it's too tight and Malcovitch has to tap! Slick submission there by Vega!

That was a close second round but I would say that Felix Flashlighter will probably get the nod.
