The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulson misses with a low kick. Christodoulou tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Paulson keeps the fight on the outside. Paulson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paulson is looking to clinch but Christodoulou is avoiding it.

I looks like Christodoulou might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Christodoulou has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Christodoulou is tying to control. Paulson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Paulson is trying to stand up here but Christodoulou is controlling him well. Christodoulou throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Christodoulou tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Paulson is bucking up trying to escape but Christodoulou cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Christodoulou raining down shots from the mount! Paulson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Paulson is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Paulson sneaks back into half guard. Oh Paulson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Paulson is looking to escape.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hayes tries for a takedown but Cortes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cortes throws a right hand that Hayes ducks under and follows up with a left that Hayes also avoids with ease. A punch combination from Cortes misses. Hayes checks the leg kick. Cortes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Donk. Cortes catches Hayes right on the button with a cross. Hayes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Hayes misses with a takedown attempt - Cortes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cortes throws a body kick that misses. Cortes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hayes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Cortes is trying to keep Hayes in close.

Thibault takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Thibault finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

McNulty has hold of Thibault's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thibault manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
