Kurosawa comes to the cage accompanied by War drums. Slice has chosen Im A Boss as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rain Slice! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurosawa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slice's waist but Slice gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kurosawa off to one side. Kurosawa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Kurosawa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Slice as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Kurosawa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kurosawa looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Slice wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are battling for position here. Kurosawa manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Kurosawa is looking to sinch up a triangle. Slice throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kurosawa's body to avoid the submission. Kurosawa has instead reached around Slice's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kurosawa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlson clinches up against the cage. Carlson lands with a light punch inside. Turner manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Carlson sitting in guard here, content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carlson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Turner is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turner is on top in guard.
Turner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Carlson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Turner stands up from guard. Let's bang! Turner has closed the distance and engaged Carlson in a clinch.
Turner manages to break the clinch.
Carlson has Turner up against the cage in a clinch.
Carlson swings wildly with an uppercut but Turner uses good head movement to avoid it.

Carlson tries to land knees in the clinch but Turner avoids the damage to the body. Carlson is leaning against Turner and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Turner manages to break the clinch.
Turner tries to clinch but Carlson is having none of it. Turner misses with a takedown attempt - Carlson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Turner shoots in for a takedown but Carlson shows good takedown defense. Barry Carlson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Turner. A punch combination from Carlson misses. Turner takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like James Turner has been cut. Carlson misses with a low kick. Carlson throws a head kick that misses. Turner tries to clinch up but Carlson circles away and keeps his distance. Carlson moves in looking to clinch but Turner pushes him off. Turner bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turner clinches up with Carlson and pushes him back against the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Turner. Turner breaks from the clinch.

Carlson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Turner won't allow Carlson to sweep him here. Turner is looking to stand up but Carlson won't let him. Turner looks gassed! Carlson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carlson wants to get back to his feet but Turner is in a dominant position and won't allow it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carlson is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Carlson is looking to advance position but Turner has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Turner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Carlson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Carlson tries to reverse the position but Turner maintains control. Turner working away from the top, dropping strikes. Carlson is squirming around, avoiding Turner's attempts to control the action. Carlson wants to control but Turner is having none of it. Carlson is desperately trying to improve his position but Turner has a good base and remains in mount. Carlson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carlson is in a horrible position here. Turner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Turner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carlson's face.

Carlson wants to get back to his feet but Turner drags him back down. Carlson tries to bench press Turner off him but Turner keeps the position. Turner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Turner moves into full mount! Carlson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Carlson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Turner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nevada shoots in for a takedown and gets it. McMahon is looking to escape. Nevada decides to stand up. Nevada lands a left and a right that sends McMahon crashing to the canvas! Nevada dives into mount looking to finish!
It looks like KT McMahon has been cut. McMahon is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. McMahon tries to lock up and control but Nevada gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. McMahon taking shots to the head.
McMahon is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nevada wants to control the pace but McMahon is squirming around nicely. Nevada with the ground and pound from mount. Nevada tries to clinch up but McMahon circles away and keeps his distance. Nevada misses with a takedown and McMahon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. McMahon wants to stand but Nevada is controlling his posture from full guard. McMahon trying to control the position from guard on top but Nevada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McMahon shoots and misses and Nevada counters with a nice double leg into guard. McMahon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacque decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Miller is trying to stand.

Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Chuck Little seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pummel blocks a leg kick. Little throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pummel sees it coming and avoids it easily. That's one minute gone in the round. Little misses with a low kick as Pummel jumps back. Little throws a lazy right hand but Pummel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pummel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Little's waist but Little gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pummel off to one side. Pummel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pummel avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Little looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Little misses with a leg kick. Little throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Little feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Little is sitting in close to Pummel's body. Pummel has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Little is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Little is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Pummel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Jackson prevents Bryant from improving his position. Jackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Bryant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jackson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Bryant is rocked! Jackson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Bryant is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him? Bryant is defending against the submission attempts here by Jackson.
