1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, SHANE SUGAR! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phantom Menace! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Menace doesn't manage to clinch there - SUGAR circles away.
Menace shoots in for a takedown but SUGAR shows good takedown defense. Menace is looking to clinch. Menace shoots in but SUGAR avoids the takedown attempt easily. SUGAR stuffs the takedown attempt from Menace. Menace gets slowly back to his feet. SHANE SUGAR has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phantom Menace. SUGAR closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. SUGAR is working for takedown but Menace is calmly controlling the position for now. SUGAR manages to pull guard.
Menace trying to control the position from guard on top but SUGAR is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Menace looking to pass the guard. Menace throwing strikes from guard but SUGAR blocks nicely. Menace trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. SUGAR really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Menace closes the distance looking to clinch and SUGAR counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Menace thinking. Menace looks gassed! Menace darts in trying to clinch and SUGAR counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Menace wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but SUGAR has him pressed against the cage. SUGAR stalling the fight.
Menace wants to break free but SUGAR has control.
Menace scores with an uppercut up the middle. SUGAR's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. SUGAR breaks the clinch.

That could mean trouble for Menace! Menace defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from SUGAR. Menace is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
SUGAR wants to control the pace but Menace is squirming around nicely. SUGAR looking to secure an arm triangle but Menace defends it well. SUGAR controlling from the full mount. Menace is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. SUGAR jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Menace is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Menace and SUGAR has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
SUGAR swings around for an armbar but Menace sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into SUGAR's guard. Menace thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Menace wants to control from the top but SUGAR keeps moving. Menace tries to free his leg and advance position but SUGAR is retaining full guard. SUGAR utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. SUGAR working a defensive guard here.
SUGAR looking for a sweep. Not yet SUGAR, not yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nice takedown defense from SUGAR. No joy for Menace on that attempt. Menace feints and then cracks SUGAR's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow SUGAR down. Menace tries for a takedown but SUGAR circles away easily and SUGAR counters by clinching up. Menace tries for a takedown but SUGAR manages to get underhooks.
With the fighters up against the cage, Menace throws an elbow but misses. Menace tries to break the clinch but SUGAR is controlling the position. SUGAR breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Some wild striking there from Menace.
Menace takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Menace tries to close the distance and clinch up but SUGAR swats him away and circles back towards the center. Menace throws a left and a right that both miss
letting SUGAR counter with a right hand. SUGAR avoids the head kick by Menace.
Menace throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
SHANE SUGAR dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
SUGAR slips under a jab from Menace. Menace tries to clinch up and SUGAR counters with a nice double leg into guard. SUGAR prevents Menace from getting back to his feet. SUGAR would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. SUGAR postures up.
SUGAR stays in close to Menace's body and controls the position. Menace is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Menace has his foot on SUGAR's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. SUGAR works his way back into a safe position though. SUGAR stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Menace swivels though and keeps the full guard. SUGAR will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. SUGAR trying to control but Menace is working from the bottom.

Menace keeping full guard, as SUGAR tries to pass. Menace is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Menace breaks the clinch.
Good shot there by SUGAR. Menace wants to clinch and SUGAR holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Menace stalling in the clinch but SUGAR improves position. Menace wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. SUGAR lands a takedown into guard.

Menace gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Menace lands a really nice looking cross but SUGAR seems unphased.

SUGAR fails with the takedown and Menace counters with a nice uppercut. Menace rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

He'll be looking to tighten that up but SUGAR can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Menace lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for SUGAR! Menace swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fauteux stuffs the takedown attempt from Bagger. Bagger gets slowly back to his feet. Bagger is looking to clinch. Fauteux tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bagger swats him away and circles back towards the center. Bagger fails with a takedown attempt. Bagger keeps the fight on the outside. Left hook, right uppercut from Fauteux. Fauteux's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Fauteux duly obliges. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McFatty scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. McFatty throws a jab when Heaslip was well out of range. McFatty throws a series of punches but Heaslip moves out of range. McFatty throws a one two combo.

and Heaslip decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McFatty's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! McFatty manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
