The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gapuz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nasr swivels and escapes.
Gapuz walks into a stiff left hand from Nasr.
Gapuz takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nasr misses with a looping right.

Nasr rushes Gapuz and presses him up against the cage.

Nasr gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gapuz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nasr connects with a nice short shot to Gapuz's temple.

Nasr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gapuz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nasr.
Nasr wants to stand but Gapuz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Nasr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gapuz on the ground.
Gapuz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nasr stands up from half guard.

Gapuz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gapuz lands in his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nasr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nasr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gapuz. Gapuz circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Nasr changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Gapuz moves forwards but Nasr connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Gapuz tries to move into range but Nasr moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Nice uppercut lands for Nasr. That snapped Gapuz's head back.

Nasr pushes Gapuz up against the cage in a clinch.

Gapuz gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

De La Riva shoots in looking for a takedown. Savage tries to sprawl out of it but De La Riva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Savage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Johnson feints and as Kang raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kang had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Johnson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kang Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Johnson's back instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
