The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Johnson tries to clinch there but James circles away.
James slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Johnson throws a series of punches but James moves out of range. James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Johnson. James throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A jab from James does it's job there. Johnson keeps the fight on the outside. James swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. James doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. James passes easily into side control. Nice work. James decides to take the fight back to the feet. James tries to land a front kick but Johnson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. James swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.

Johnson throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease. Johnson throws out a leg kick but James moves out of range and Johnson only half commits. James connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Johnson momentarily.

and James counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Johnson swings wildly with an uppercut but James uses good head movement to avoid it. Johnson with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

James is not content to let Johnson control the position. James manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. James tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg. Johnson wants to advance to full mount but James doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. James keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. James working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. James has instead reached around Johnson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! James arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Tramp wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Friemal stalling away here and it's allowed Tramp to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Tramp lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Friemal! Friemal tries to control the position but Tramp now has his back.

But no, Friemal has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Both fighters are looking very determined. Friemal is taking damage to the body and head. Friemal is trapped and Tramp is scoring with shots to the head and body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Friemal manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tramp's guard. Nice work there by Friemal.

That is naaassty. Friemal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tramp wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Friemal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tramp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tramp in side control, just content to control the action for now.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Tramp wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Friemal, who protects the arm well. Friemal manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tramp's best efforts. Friemal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tramp takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Friemal wants to control but Tramp is keeping busy.

Friemal seems comfortable defending it but Tramp has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Friemal is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Friemal is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Tramp couldn't care less - he's delighted!
