0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miles Granville! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tomas scores with a punch to the head. Granville keeps the fight on the outside. Tonka Tomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tomas misses with a double jab.
Granville shoots for a takedown but Tomas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Tomas throws a left that rocks Granville and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Tomas dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Granville regain composure!
Granville is rocked! Tomas content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Granville is still in real trouble! Can Tomas finish him? Granville tries to get back to half guard but can't. Granville seems to have recovered his senses. Granville wants to control but Tomas postures up. Tomas trying to control the position but Granville is working away. Granville is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tomas throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Granville works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Tomas is thwarting Granville's attempts to control the position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tomas moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. A big left from Tomas misses. Tomas jabbing away but nothing is landing. Granville bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Tomas pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The fighters circling - Tomas throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Granville staying out of range there. Granville shoots for a takedown but Tomas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Tomas misses with an attempted mid kick.
Granville feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Granville looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Granville trying to control the position from guard on top but Tomas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Granville throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tomas works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Granville drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Granville jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tomas is breathing heavily. Granville slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Tomas is trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Granville thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Tomas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Granville wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tomas, who protects the arm well. Granville is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tomas will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Granville thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Granville throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Granville has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Tomas is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Granville yanks on the arm and Tomas is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Granville.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bags closes the distance and clinches. Bags breaks the clinch.
Assante feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bags's calf. Assante lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Bags moves into the clinch successfully.
Bags is trying to break the clinch but Assante has him pressed against the cage. Bags prevents Assante from breaking the clinch. Assante breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bags fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A solid leg kick lands there for Assante.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Assante.
Bags takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Assante scoring well with a low kick there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bags chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Assante can pounce on him.
Bags throws a shot from downtown. Assante moves away and avoids it. Assante buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Assante feints and then cracks Bags's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bags down. Bags closes the distance and clinches up with Assante, looking for a takedown. Bags pushes Assante against the cage but Assante circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Bags closes this distance looking for a takedown but Assante circles away. Assante tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A head kick misses from Assante. Assante throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Assante throws a head kick that misses. No luck for Bags with that takedown attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bags looks to land a right hand but Assante moved out of range. Good leg kick by Assante there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Bags bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Assante tries to get back to half guard but can't. Assante managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bags.
Bags lands a few punches from side control. Bags works to advance to full mount. Assante defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Bags content just to control the position here. Bags looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bags controlling the position easily from mount. Bags dominating with strikes here. Bags connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bags controlling his opponent. Assante takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bags scoring with strikes but Assante is staying in there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Bags tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bags can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Assante is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bags tries to bum rush Assante with a series of wild strikes but Assante uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Salvatore Assante is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bags looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Assante is fending him off so far but Bags persists. Nope, Assante circles away and we're back to standing. A kick lands to the mid section there for Assante. Assante lands a head kick. Bags smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Bags misses with a wild body shot. Assante dodges the punch combination from Bags.
Bags throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Assante. Assante pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bags tries to clinch but Assante is having none of it. Salvatore Assante is winning the standup battle so far. Assante throws a head kick that misses. Salvatore Assante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid leg kick lands there for Assante.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Bags stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Assante. Bags fails to land the takedown. Bags sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Assante stuffs the takedown attempt from Bags. Bags gets slowly back to his feet. Salvatore Assante has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Bags. Crunch! Assante slams his shin into Bags's torso. Bags drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Bags looking to pass the guard. Bags thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bags stands and throws Assante's legs to the side, diving into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bags wants to lay and pray for a moment but Assante keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Assante is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Bags stalling away here and it's allowed Assante to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Assante is squirming around, avoiding Bags's attempts to control the action. Joey Bags has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bags lands with some strikes. Assante is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Bags landing strikes from the mount. Assante is desperately trying to improve his position but Bags has a good base and remains in mount. Bags looking to control but Assante is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Bags connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Bags lands with some strikes. Bags unloading with bombs! Assante wants to control but Bags is having none of it.

Gemelli throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Malians gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Malians had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gemelli is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Malians is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gemelli pulls his head out easily. Gemelli takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Malians is pressing down on Gemelli's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Malians looking for a guillotine here but Gemelli defends easily.

That was a close round but I would say that John Carter will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Brickshaw seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Carter is refusing to be controlled, as Brickshaw sits in half guard. Tron Brickshaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Carter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Carter tries to clinch up and Brickshaw counters with a single leg into guard. Carter didn't expect that. Carter has Brickshaw pulled in close to control his posture. Brickshaw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Carter tries to land a sweep but no joy. Brickshaw looking to sit in guard and control but Carter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Brickshaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Brickshaw throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Brickshaw had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Carter is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Brickshaw Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Carter's back instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brickshaw controls the position. Carter turns into Brickshaw and is now in his guard.
Carter wants to control from the top but Brickshaw keeps moving. Brickshaw throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Brickshaw looking to sweep here. No luck so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brickshaw is on top in guard.
Brickshaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Brickshaw trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Brickshaw makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Brickshaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Brickshaw drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brickshaw has Carter in his guard. Brickshaw looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Carter has picked Brickshaw up and slammed him! Brickshaw can't keep hold of the triangle and Carter manages to pass to side control! Brickshaw tries to bench press Carter off him but Carter keeps the position. Brickshaw sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Brickshaw is trying to control but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Tron Brickshaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Brickshaw has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Christian tries to bum rush King with a series of wild strikes but King uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Christian is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Christian tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. King keeps the fight on the outside. King works over Christian's head and body with a nice combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! A combination from King does no damage.

Christian will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

King checks the leg kick. Christian tries to clinch but King moves away and King counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Oh Christian is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Christian throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily. Christian seems to have got his legs back now. King lands a jab-cross combination. Christian throws a series of punches but King moves out of range. King misses with a two punch combination.
King connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Christian tumbling to the canvas! King pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Christian was done - good stoppage!
